ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE

Date:  June 2008
Reports To: Sr. Accounting Manager – MBA IA and MBF
Status:  Part-Time 20 – 25 hours weekly

PURPOSE:  To provide accurate and timely financial data used to prepare monthly financial statements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

MBA Insurance Agency, Inc.    (MBA IA)
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for 4 bank accounts
• Prepare bank deposits / record insurance premium cash receipts 
• Maintain detail of accounts receivable financing schedule
• Maintain sub-broker commission schedule / prepare annual 1099 tax forms
• Maintain account detail for CNA Premium Payable
• Reconcile CNA premium payable statement

Massachusetts Bar Foundation   (MBF)
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for 2 bank accounts
• Prepare bank deposits / process credit cards for fellow pledge payments and contributions
• Process IOLTA grant payments and maintain a schedule of the grants payable detail

MBA IA and MBF
• Process accounts payable including a weekly check run
• Prepare chargeback transactions due to related entities
• Prepare various adjusting journal entries
• Other duties and responsibilities as requested

QUALIFICATIONS: 
The requirements are a minimum of an Associates Degree in Accounting or Business with 1 year of related experience or 3 or more years of equivalent work experience.  Also, experience with an accounting software, experience with Excel (or a similar spreadsheet application), and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing are required.   Candidate must be dependable, able to work independently, and must have excellent organizational skills.
