CLE Programs

The Massachusetts Data Privacy Conference

*Sponsored by the MBA's Law Practice Management Section Council.

This program will thoroughly analyze the prevailing Massachusetts data privacy regime from all sides and at all angles. Coverage will include the data privacy and disposition statutes (Mass. G.L. ch. 93H and 93I), the data privacy code provisions (Code of Massachusetts Regulations ch. 201, §17, as revised), released guidance from the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and the Supreme Judicial Court’s Interim Guidelines for the Protection of Personal Identifying Data, in the submission of court documents.

Panelists will be drawn from government agencies, the courts, private industry, technology and non-profit sectors, and will provide an array of opinions and tips for the institution of best practices.

Massachusetts has set its course for the strictest data privacy regulation in the country. Starting on March 1, 2010, protection of your clients’ data will become your affirmative duty. Don’t risk a breach later. Prepare to prevent breach now. Topics include:

  • Overview of the Massachusetts Data Privacy Regime;
  • Panel discussion of prevailing laws and regulations;
  • Overview of Supreme Judicial Court Interim Guidelines for Redaction of Personal Identifying Data; and
  • Technical compliance with prevailing laws and regulations.
