12th Annual Western Massachusetts Bankruptcy Conference

     It is important to stay up to date on the latest trends in bankruptcy law.  This seminar aims to keep practitioners current in order to best serve their clients. This annual conference focuses on important updates and issues relevant to both new and experienced bankruptcy practitioners.  This year’s program will focus on recent developments, trends and practice tips relating to dischargeability of tax debts, student loans, and claims of fraud or breach of fiduciary duty.  The program will also include a presentation on the “State of the District” from the Chief Judge Bailey of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts and presentations on recent developments in bankruptcy law and practice over the last year.

Specific topics include:

• Recent case law developments in dischargeability of tax debts
• Procedural tips and pitfalls of discharging tax debts
• Effective planning to have the greatest likelihood of success in discharging tax debts
• Recent case law developments in dischargeability of student loans
• Effective planning to have the greatest likelihood of success in discharging student loan debts
• Strategies for addressing student loan debts outside of bankruptcy
• Recent case law developments in dischargeability of claims relating to fraud and breach of fiduciary duty
• Update on the year’s important Supreme Court, appellate, and Bankruptcy Court decisions
• The State of the District and views from the bench from Massachusetts Bankruptcy Judges
