CLE Publications

Electronic Publication (PDF version)

The one who tells the best story wins! This book teaches attorneys how to use the Story-Telling Model in preparing an opening that is compelling, understandable and memorable.
The focus will be on how to develop central themes and sub-themes for a case, the use of visuals to enhance the story and story-telling skills to create dynamic, plot-driven case presentations that jurors will easily understand. The psychological history of stories in relaying information, the elements of effective stories and the development of case themes to incorporate into the story will also be presented.

Topics include:

  • History of stories in relaying information — elements of effective stories, where themes come from (fables, novels, movies, jurors’ personal histories, etc.);
  • How jurors process story information; and
  • The story-telling template — using an actual case from your files.
