This day-long program is designed for criminal defense attorneys and
immigration practitioners.
The speakers will cover both basic and advanced topics for lawyers at any
stage of their practice. The program is ideal for defense attorneys trying to
understand the impact of immigration concerns on all aspects of their
representation and immigration practitioners interested in immigration related
post-conviction motions and deepening understanding of the effects of criminal
conduct on immigration proceedings. Topics will include:
- Overview of the immigration consequences of criminal conduct;
- Detainers, ICE custody, bail and bond issues;
- The nuts and bolts of post-conviction relief; and
- Immigration relief such as cancellation of removal, 212(h), 212(c) and
others.
