On Thursday, Oct. 1 between 2 and 5

Outreach Center located at 10 Reed St., Haverhill. You must be a
veteran residing in Essex County to be eligible to participate in
this program. To participate, veterans must call for an appointment
and go through a brief in-take process. Walk-ins will NOT be
accepted. The deadline for appointments is Friday, Sept.
18. Click here for more program information.
To schedule an appointment, call: Massachusetts Department of
Veteran Services Paralegal Gail Cavanaugh McAuliffe. Toll-free

The MBA is proud to offer Visiting Lawyer Programs to veterans
throughout the commonwealth. This program provides an opportunity
for veterans to speak to lawyers on a one-on-one basis. Volunteer
attorneys will make available to veterans basic legal information
and will offer assistance on understanding Massachusetts laws and
appropriate court procedures. The volunteer attorney's role
is limited to general help and assistance in the matter discussed.
The attorney does NOT represent the veteran in the case and will
not file an appearance as counsel in the matter.
Assistance provided is based on the attorney's best judgment
given based on the limited fact situation and information you
provide, which the lawyer cannot investigate or verify. The
attorney's time with each participant is limited to allow more
persons to be assisted during the program. Ordinarily, no one will
receive more than twenty minutes of time. As a matter professional
responsibility, the attorney will keep information about you and
your case private. The attorney will not knowingly give advice to
anyone opposing the case.
If you are interested in
participating in a program in your geographic area, for more
information,
please call (617) 338-0560.
This program is being offered as a public service of the
Massachusetts Bar Association with the financial support of the
Massachusetts Bar Foundation. The MBA acknowledges its partnership
with the Massachusetts Department of Veterans' Services and thanks
them for their important role in the success of this
program.
