The mission of the Health Law Section Council is to (1) discuss, debate, and educate others on important issues related to health law, such as health care reform, regulation, quality, safety, access, finance, debt, and insurance; and (2) and advocate for measures that improve policies and practices in these areas through our courts, legislature, government agencies, and health care providers.

            To further the mission of the Health Law Section, the Section Council recruits member attorneys from different practice areas, including private, public, and non-profit attorneys who specialize in health law, medical practice, consumer issues, and regulation, and others who can contribute to a lively debate and help derive innovative approaches to health law matters.           The overall goal of this Section Council is to educate the bar on significant current issues that impact the bar, health care providers, and citizens throughout the Commonwealth.  In that regard, one imperative of the Section Council is to stay abreast of recent developments, improvements, and controversies on which the MBA should educate others and perhaps express a public opinion.  This involves review of current and impactful policies, bills, regulation, research papers and guest speakers.  This Section Council creates create informative seminars and publications on such matters.  The Section Council also digests and presents important health law issues for consideration to the House of Delegates on a timely basis. ...continue reading
