Health Law Newsletter
January
Note from the chair
Welcome to the January issue of the Health Law Section
newsletter. This newsletter will continue to update you on
information about CLE programs, meetings, hot legal developments
and other section news.
Happy New Year to all! The Health Law Section Council is
continuing to keep busy as we kick off 2011. We are excited to be
presenting a CLE on end-of-life issues that is expected to be held
on Thursday, April 7. Please mark your calendars now as this is an
exciting and informative presentation that you will not want to
miss. More specific details to follow shortly. The Health Law
Section Council has also prepared and will be sponsoring a
resolution pertaining to Medical-Legal Partnerships that we hope to
get approved at the next House of Delegates meeting on Thursday,
Jan. 20. And of course, we will be capping off the year with a
Health Law Conference.
There is a lot we hope to get done this year. We certainly invite
and hope you will get involved in anyway possible by sending in
questions or ideas for CLEs, or preparing articles of interest and
of course attending and participating in any Health Law sponsored
events. Make the most of your membership.
Looking back to 2010, the Health Law Section Council invited
Reni Gertner, editor of the Massachusetts
Medical Law Report to attend the Nov. 9 meeting. Gertner
discussed the Mass. Medical Law Report -- a guide for
medical professionals that focuses on legal issues and is sent to
8,500 physicians/healthcare providers bi-monthly. The Mass.
Medical Law Report focuses on risk, regulatory and compliance
and for the past two years, has sponsored the Risk Management
Conference for Physicians. They have also formed a partnership with
the Massachusetts Medical Society.
As a reminder, we are in the planning stage for the Health Law
Conference that will take place later this year, likely in
June. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas
of what you want to learn about or if you have any interest in
presenting. You can contact me at [e-mail sfiore] or MBA Sections Administrator
Jean Stevens at [e-mail jstevens].
