Justice Ireland to present keynote address at Mass. Bar Foundation 2008 Annual Meeting

All MBF Fellows, Grantees, and Friends are invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. The event will be held on Jan. 24 at 5 p.m., at the Social Law Library in the John Adams Courthouse in Boston.

Associate Justice Roderick L. Ireland of the Supreme Judicial Court will be the Foundation’s Great Friend of Justice honoree and keynote speaker. Justice Ireland’s commitment to juvenile justice and passion for improving the lives of young people factor prominently in his distinguished career. For thirteen years he sat in the Boston Juvenile Court, working with children and families on a daily basis. In 2005 the MBA honored him with its Public Service Award for his dedication to and long standing support of the state wide high school Mock Trial competition. And, as chair of the planning committee, advisor, program director, mentor and teacher for the SJC’s Judicial Youth Corps since its inception in 1990, Justice Ireland has played a central role in a program that teaches high school students about the judicial branch of government and the principles of law.
