House Ways and Means Committee releases House Budget

Trial Court falls $48 million short of what is needed to maintain services at current restricted levels

Yesterday, the House Ways and Means Committee released a proposed budget that woefully underfunds the Trial Court. At $553 million, the appropriation for the Trial Court falls $48 million short of what is needed to maintain services at current restricted levels. The Massachusetts Bar Association will work with court leaders to seek additional funding in the upcoming full House debate.

The MBA was pleased to learn that the House Ways and Means Committee budget provides level funding for both the Committee for Public Counsel Services and the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation.
