MBA officers meet with delegates from the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday, July 14.
MBA hosts Chinese Delegation
A visit this week from a four-member delegation from China's
legal community resulted in a lively exchange among the delegates,
interpreters and MBA officers and staff at the MBA's Boston
office.
Tuesday's two-hour meeting was a fast-paced exchange on the topics
of CLE, ethics, lobbying efforts, community outreach and MBA
operations, to name a few.
"We quickly developed an easy rapport with our colleagues from
China. No topics seemed to be off limits as we covered questions
and answers in a very honest and open manner," said MBA President
Edward W. McIntyre.
McIntyre was joined by fellow officers Denise Squillante, Marsha
Kazarosian and Douglas K. Sheff, as well as MBA Director of
Membership and Programs Lisa A. Ferrara and Senior Program Manager
Marc D'Antonio.
The delegates from the People's Republic of China were invited to
the United States under the auspices of the Department of State's
International Visitor Leadership Program. The Boston leg of their
visit was arranged by WorldBoston.
Following the meeting, WorldBoston President and CEO Bill
Clifford, who was also present, described the meeting as one of
most engaging he has sat in on. "This proved to be very lively and
informative," said Clifford.
The MBA welcomes the opportunity for such meetings with foreign
delegations. Other delegations hosted by the MBA in recent years
include those from Japan and Iraq.
