The Massachusetts Bar Association recently filed an amicus brief in support of the plaintiff's position in the Federal District Court Case The Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts, Inc v. National Real Estate Information Services, Inc. and National Real Estate Information Services, LP. This case is of great significance to the legal profession. If the Defendant's were to prevail, non-lawyers would be permitted to conduct real estate closings thus potentially opening the floodgates allowing the Defendant's arguments to be applied in other areas that would further erode the practice of law.
