Donate working and broken cell phones, batteries and accessories to the cell phone recycling program

The Green Roundtable Inc.'s NEXUS Green Building Resource Center has signed on as an affiliate of the MBA Lawyers Eco-Challenge. GRT has pledged its support of the Eco-Challenge and has agreed to participate in a cell phone recycling effort in conjunction with the Verizon Wireless' HopeLine program.

Working and broken cell phones, batteries and accessories from all service providers will now be accepted at the Nexus Green Building Resource Center, 38 Chauncy St., 7th Floor, Boston.

GRT image for EcoGRT is an independent non-profit organization whose mission is to mainstream green building by promoting and supporting healthy and environmentally integrated building projects through education, policy, and technical assistance.

The GRT NEXUS Green Building Resource Center includes over 9,000 square feet of product showroom, educational exhibits, resource and samples libraries, and networking and event space. All are welcome to stop by during open hours to ask questions, research topics, and attend tours and workshops on green building and sustainable design.

Other cell phone drop off locations include:

  • MBA headquarters, 20 West St., Boston;
  • MBA western Massachusetts office, 73 State St., Springfield; and
  • CLF's Massachusetts headquarters, 62 Summer St., Boston.

HopeLine has collected more than 5.3 million phones, kept more than 200 tons of electronic waste and batteries out of landfills and donated more than $5.6 million in cash grants to organizations, including many in Massachusetts, that run domestic violence awareness and prevention programming.

ReCellular is committed to removing all personal data from all phones collected. As an added precaution, it is recommended to consult your user manual or search for directions for a "hard reset" for your phone's make and model online to clear the information yourself.
