Gov. Patrick signs 2011 Fiscal Year budget
Patrick vetoed $11.4 million from the Trial Court's accounts
Yesterday, Gov.
Deval L. Patrick signed the $27.6 billion budget. Overall, he
vetoed $457 million from the conference committee's budget. Patrick
vetoed $11.4 million from the Trial Court's accounts. The $11.4
million cut coupled with the conference committee reduction of
$17.5 million brings total cuts for the Trial Court to $28.9
million from FY10 funding levels. The Legislature will
continue to meet in formal sessions throughout July. It is unclear
at this time if the Legislature is going to override
vetoes.
The
Massachusetts Bar Association has been advocating for adequate
court funding throughout the budget process and will continue to be
a leader in the fight for court funding.
