MBA applauds Senate passage of alimony reform
Today, the Senate endorsed alimony reform legislation that will
enact fair and equitable alimony in Massachusetts, including time
limits on alimony. This bill is the product of a legislative
appointed task force of major stake holders, including the MBA.
"Massachusetts families facing the emotional turmoil of a
divorce need alimony orders that make sense, strive for fairness
and take the length of a marriage into account. This legislation
will completely overhaul the state's current antiquated system of
setting alimony. The change is long overdue," said MBA President
Denise Squillante, who operates a family law practice in Fall
River.
