Join the MBA at The Federalist Society's Shakespeare and the Law on June 21
The MBA is proud to co-sponsor the Federalist Society and
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company's presentation of "Justice and
Mercy in Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice." As part of the
11th year of the Shakespeare and the Law series, the event will
honor judges Judith A. Cowin, John C. Cratsley, Wendie I.
Gershengorn, Nancy Gertner, Margaret R. Hinkle and
Stephen E. Neel, who have retired, or will retire, in 2011. The
event will be held on Tuesday, June 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cutler
Majestic Theatre, 219 Tremont St., Boston.
Judges from Massachusetts' Superior Court, Appeals Court,
Supreme Judicial Court and U.S. District Court will present a
staged reading of Shakespeare's most controversial comedy, The
Merchant of Venice , followed by a discussion of the issues of
contract, equity, justice and judging.
This event is free. Judicial participants include:

The reading will be directed by Steven Maler, artistic director
of Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (producers of free Shakespeare
on Boston Common). The panel discussion will be moderated by
Lawyers Division Chair and McCarter & English Partner Daniel J.
Kelly and Shakespeare scholar Helen Whall.
