MBA Access to Justice Awards Luncheon to honor leaders in public service on May 18
Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray to deliver keynote, receive MBA Centennial Award
As part of the MBA Centennial Conference, the Annual Access to
Justice Awards Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, May 18 from
12:30 to 2 p.m at the Boston Sheraton Hotel. The luncheon will
honor five attorneys and one law firm for their efforts in
providing exemplary legal services to the public. Lt. Gov.
Timothy P. Murray will deliver the luncheon's keynote
address and will also be honored with an MBA Centennial Award. The
MBA's Centennial Award is given to persons of extraordinary
achievement who materially advanced the rule of law, enhanced the
integrity of lawyers, judges or the legal profession, engaged or is
engaging in important legal scholarship, or protected the
democratic principles upon which our country is founded.
"These lawyers are a source of inspiration to all of us for their
tireless commitment to helping the commonwealth's most needy
individuals," said MBA President Denise Squillante. "We applaud and
congratulate their hard work on behalf of access to justice."

Access to Justice Award Honorees include:
Legal Services Award
Given to a public or nonprofit agency attorney who
contributes to the provision of low-income legal services beyond
his or her required job responsibilities.
- Linda L. Landry Esq., Disability Law Center, Boston
- Daniel S. Manning Esq., Greater Boston Legal Services,
Boston
Pro Bono Award for Law Firms
Presented to a firm whose meaningful pro bono activities are
particularly noteworthy given the firm's size.
- Law Offices of Howard Friedman, Boston
Pro Bono Publico Award
Awarded to an individual who has been instrumental in
developing, implementing and supporting pro bono programs for the
MBA, a local bar association, law firm or agency.
- Eleanor J. Newhoff Esq., Attorney at Law, Cambridge
Defender Award
Honors a public or nonprofit agency attorney who provides or
contributes to the provision of criminal legal services to
low-income clients.
- Radha Natarajan Esq., Committee for Public Counsel Services,
Somerville
Prosecutor Award
Bestowed upon a state or federal prosecutor who has
distinguished him or herself in public service.
- Katharine B. Folger Esq., Middlesex District Attorney's Office,
Woburn
