Employment Law Open Meeting: Global
NAPs Discussion
Tuesday, March 29, noon-1:30
p.m.
MBA, 20 West St., Boston
In August 2010 a divided Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court
issued its momentous decision in Global NAPs v. Awiszus.
This factually and procedurally fascinating case provides a
case-study for both seasoned and novice employment and business
litigators. What started as a seemingly ordinary maternity
discrimination matter morphed into a tangled web of intriguing
litigation strategy, steps and missteps. The decision by a bitterly
divided SJC shook the foundations upon which rest agency
guidelines, fact sheets and similar tools available to individuals,
businesses and lawyers. Come hear from the talented attorneys who
appeared on opposite sides of the case before the SJC: Evan
Fray-Witzer of Ciampa Fray-Witzer LLP and Nina
Joan Kimball of Kimball Brousseau LLP. John
Tocci of Tocci, Goss & Lee PC and Raymond P.
Ausrotas of Todd & Weld LLP will moderate the event.
The speakers will provide an overview of the case, discuss the
handling of the case and the SJC decision, including its long-term
impact on the employment and litigation bar.
