Boston area attorneys learn more on innovative partnership of medicine and the law
Health providers and prospective volunteer attorneys attended
the Boston open house for the MBA Pro Bono Prescription at Todd
& Weld on Oct. 27. The innovative program, a partnership
between the Massachusetts Bar Association and Medical-Legal
Partnership Massachusetts network aims to promote the health and
well-being of low-income patients through legal advocacy.
MBA Vice President Jeffrey N. Catalano led the informative
speaking portion of the event and was joined by JoHanna Flacks, pro
bono director for Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston to provide an
overview of this unique collaboration.
In addition, Jennifer Rosen, MD, a surgical oncologist at Boston
Medical Center, spoke about the medical significance of legal
advocacy for low-income patients and Liberty Mutual paralegal Lynn
Rogato spoke about the pro bono cases she has worked on and the
difference her efforts have made in the well-being of those
clients.
The Boston open house follows similar events in Worcester and
Springfield to kick-off this new program.
