MBA president appointed to UMASS Board of Trustees

MBA President Richard P. Campbell was recently appointed to a five-year term on the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees, by Gov. Deval Patrick. As a new board of trustees appointee, Campbell will help govern the University of Massachusetts system. Campbell received his BA from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 1970.

In addition to Campbell, Gov. Patrick made six other appointments to the board:

  • Zoila M. Gomez, of Lawrence, attorney at the Law Offices of Zoila M. Gomez;
  • Margaret D. Xifaras of New Bedford, partner in the law firm of Lang, Xifaras & Bullard;
  • Jeffrey Mullan of Milton, "of counsel" at Foley Hoag LLP;
  • Lawrence M. Carpman, of Marshfield, president of Carpman Communications LLC;
  • Alyce J. Lee, of Milton, former chief of staff to Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino; and
  • James J. Karam of Tiverton, RI, president and founder of First Bristol Corporation.

The appointees fill open seats and replace the following trustees who have completed their terms: Lawrence F. Boyle, Jennifer C. Braceras, Richard J. Lawton, Kenneth A. MacAfee and Stephen P. Tocco.
