Massachusetts recidivism program receives HOPE funding
Chief Justice for Administration & Management Robert
Mulligan is pleased to announce that the Office of Justice programs
in the Department of Justice has selected Massachusetts to receive
funding under the Honest Opportunity Probation with Enforcement
(HOPE) Demonstration Field Experiment. Massachusetts is one of four
grantees selected to potentially replicate a probation enforcement
model effectively used in Hawaii to reduce recidivism.
The HOPE funding of $849,000 will enhance the Recidivism Reduction
Initiative in Salem in the Essex County Superior Court and the
Salem District Court. The goal of this project is to promote
successful probation outcomes through swift, certain, and
consistent sanctions for those under maximum supervision.
