Senior Partners For Justice - West luncheon features the MBA Pro Bono Prescription program
On Sept. 27, the Senior Partners for Justice - West luncheon
featured the MBA Pro Bono Prescription program, a pioneering
initiative jointly created by the Massachusetts Bar Association and
the Medical-Legal Partnership Massachusetts network. The program
brings together volunteer attorneys and medical professionals to
promote the health and well-being of low-income patients through
legal advocacy.
"The least we can do is use our skills to help fix what is
making people sick in the first place," said J. Michael Scully,
vice chair of the MBA's Health Law Section and a partner at
Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas LLP in Springfield.
The panel of speakers also included Oonagh C. Doherty, the
Massachusetts Justice Project's medical legal partnership
supervising attorney; JoHanna Flacks, pro
bono director at the Medical-Legal Partnership | Boston;
The Hon. (ret.) Edward M. Ginsburg, founder of Senior Partners for
Justice; Dr. Jacqueline Spain, medical director of the
Holyoke Health Center and Valerie Zolezzi-Wyndham, managing
attorney at the Legal Assistance Corp. of Central Massachusetts in
Worcester.
