MLAC snags $1 million in supplemental funding

The House Ways and Means Committee is considering a supplemental budget today that provides an additional $1 million to the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation. Legal service programs across the state have experienced deep cuts in recent years due to the enormous drop in IOLTA funding. Additionally, the need for legal services has dramatically increased due to the economic crisis. The supplemental budget could come before the full House as early as today.
