by Carol A. G. DiMento, MBA President 2001-2002 Join us on Jan. 24-26, 2002 at the Boston Marriott Copley Place for the MBA 2002 Annual Conference: "A Celebration of Law and Justice." This is your opportunity to see old acquaintances and make new ones while catching up on legal developments, sharpening your skills and learning about new technology. Over the three days, more than 700 members from the bench and bar will be present for the conference programs and events.
The conference opens Thursday, Jan. 24th, with MBA House of Delegates and Massachusetts Bar Foundation meetings as well as a mentoring and networking session for newer practitioners. Thursday evening's welcoming reception is an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from all over the state.
On Friday, Recent Developments in Massachusetts and Federal Law, co-sponsored with Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, will offer a full day of comprehensive continuing legal education programs presented by an array of attorneys and judges.
The conference will be a time to celebrate those who continually give back to our noble profession. The popular Access to Justice Awards luncheon on Friday will recognize four outstanding individual contributors as well as a law firm.
Friday evening there will be a splendid reception in the exhibit hall followed by the Gala Dinner, an event that has become one of the most significant networking and social occasions of the year. Dinner highlights include remarks by special guest Tipper Gore and the presentation of the Legislator of the Year award to state Rep. John H. Rogers, D-Norwood.
Continuing our leadership in innovative curriculum for the bar, the MBA will once again join forces with the Flaschner Judicial Institute to present four outstanding Bench/Bar Forums on Saturday. Highlighting the conference theme, "A Celebration of Law and Justice," these sessions not only will provide you with continuing legal education, but also will present thought-provoking commentary on contemporary issues affecting legal practitioners and judges today and in the future.
Whether you are a general practitioner or specialist, or your practice is transactional or litigation, the MBA Annual Conference is your best opportunity for professional development and networking. Be sure to send in your completed registration soon to take advantage of the early-bird discount. I look forward to seeing you there.
