MBA member and Labor and Employment Section Council member Rosemary Pye was one of three National Labors Relations Board officials to receive the prestigious Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executives.
Each year, the president chooses career members of the Senior Executive Service for this prestigious award based on their distinguished service in government. The select group is recognized for sustained exceptional performance and valuable contributions in leading federal programs.
Since 1989, Pye has served as regional director of the NLRB's Boston Regional Office (Region 1), where she is responsible for all case-handling activities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Pye joined the NLRB in 1974 as a staff attorney in the Boston office. After she transferred to the Hartford office in 1979, Pye was promoted to a supervisory attorney position. In December 1985, Pye was promoted to deputy assistant general counsel in the Division of Operations-Management.
Transferring from the general counsel's staff to the board side of the agency, from 1986 to 1988, Pye served as chief counsel to former member Marshall Babson.
The NLRB is an independent federal agency created in 1935 to administer and enforce the National Labor Relations Act. It conducts secret-ballot elections to determine whether employees desire union representation and it investigates and remedies unfair labor practices.
On May 1, Pye also will be a panelist during the MBA's Labor and Employment Spring Conference, which will be presented at the Boston Park Plaza.
