Past MBA Access to Justice Section Chair Susan G. Anderson has been appointed general counsel in the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. Secretary of Elder Affairs Jennifer Davis Carey announced the appointment Sept. 16.
Anderson is an active member of the MBA, where she is also a member of the Health Law Section. She also volunteers for the Mock Trial Program as well as Conversations on Law and Liberty in Times of Crisis.
Anderson was formerly with the Division of Insurance, where she served as chief hearing officer. She has considerable experience in areas of concern to the elderly, including Medicare Supplement insurance and the suite of federal benefits for the elderly and the disabled.
Anderson also has been a board member for the Women's Bar Association for more than two years, and is the chair of the WBA's Appointments, Awards and Endorsements Committee.
Erica M. Spokis has joined the firm of Lian, Zarrow, Eynon & Shea as an associate. Spokis is a recent graduate of Suffolk University Law School and is a member of the Worcester County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She previously worked in the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Boston and the legal department for the Boston Housing Authority.
Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC has expanded its Boston litigation team with the addition of Andrew R. McConville.
McConville, who joins the firm as an associate, focuses his practice on white-collar criminal defense. He earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Boston College.
McConville served on active duty as an officer and judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps. He remains active in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, teaching trial advocacy and criminal law at the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island.
Peter Rosenblum, co-managing partner of Foley Hoag and a member of Foley Hoag's Executive Committee, has been named chairman of the Boston Lawyers Group, an organization supporting the efforts of Boston's legal community to identify, recruit, advance and retain attorneys of color.
Rosenblum succeeds John D. Hamilton, Jr., who is retiring from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and as chairman of The Boston Lawyers Group, after eight years of exemplary leadership and service to the BLG. Marijane Benner Browne, national hiring partner of Bingham McCutchen LLP, has been appointed vice chairman of the organization. As chairman of BLG, Rosenblum will work to expand the organization's membership and achieve its goals of greater diversity within its member organizations.
