Find job coaching, networking, more at Career Development Conference

If you are looking to advance your career, expand your practice and/or grow your income, don't miss the MBA's first Legal Career Development Conference, on Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 5-9 p.m., at the Boston Cambridge Marriott, 2 Cambridge Center (Broadway & 3rd Street), Cambridge.

Hosted in partnership with MBA benefit partner Legal Career Center Network, this after-work event is open to the entire New England legal community. We have invited some of New England's top leaders and professionals to assist and equip those wanting to enhance their careers. Through open panels and presentations, these key leaders will be covering such topics as:

•  How to make a successful lateral move - In this panel discussion, some of the top law firm, corporate and government attorney recruiters in Massachusetts will share what they look for in a new lateral attorney and how to succeed in reaching them with your qualifications.

•  Understanding and benefiting from contract/project work - Our panel members will share how taking on contract attorney work can be a great way to increase your billable hours and sharpen your skills.

•  Professional coaching for advancing your career and growing your practice - We have invited one of the area's leading marketing coaches to work with you on the key to unlocking the door to success in building your firm or becoming a rainmaker.

•  Effective use of placement services to reach the big firms - In this panel discussion, some of Massachusetts' top placement agencies will share their secrets on why many of the large firms use agencies to find their talent and how you can leverage their service.

This powerful forum is free to all MBA members and to other legal professionals who register before Oct. 15. Space at the Legal Career Development Conference is limited, so register early to hold your place. Go to http://massbar.expertprosearch.com/

Even if you can't join us on Oct. 19, you can still benefit from this conference by taking a minute to complete Step 1 of the registration process. By doing so, you will be sent via e-mail a PDF file of the Career Development Conference program free of charge during the week following the event.

Job hunting? Post your resume today!

During the weeks leading up to and following the MBA's Career Development Conference, New England law firms and corporate legal departments will be searching for top talent to add to their organizations. If you have a resume currently listed on the MBA's online Legal Career Center, take a moment to make sure your contact and work history information is correct. If not, you may want to take a moment to post your resume (confidentially or non-confidentially) and/or to create a Career Agent to take advantage of this powerful career networking opportunity. Visit the Legal Career Center at www.massbar.org/careers.

The Legal Career Center is available for legal professionals seeking employment opportunities and to employers hiring legal professionals. The MBA partnered with the Legal Career Center Network, the nation's largest "legal only" job and resume site, providing access to a national legal career network offering thousands of positions, from lawyers to paralegals, legal administrators and support positions.

The Legal Career Center also offers employment-related resources, including sample forms, contracts, resumes, cover letter rules and interviewing tips and techniques.

This online service is free to job seekers, who can confidentially search for local and nationwide opportunities or sign up for to receive electronic notice of new opportunities posted that match your criteria. Job seekers can post their confidential or non-confidential resume online for potential employers to review and can choose when to release their resume.

Employers can post jobs, search resumes, automate resume searches via email and manage job postings quickly and easily online. The cost to place one job posting for 30 days is only $95; for one month of unlimited job postings, $395. Other frequency discounts are available.

The Legal Career Center Network guarantees employers will receive qualified responses from postings through the Legal Career Center or it will run the ad free for an additional 30 days.
