Nearly 40 leaders of the MBA's affiliated specialty, minority and county bar associations attended the Massachusetts Bar Association's 2006 Bar Leadership Institute on Sept. 29 at the Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis.
The day-long event brought together affiliated bar leaders and about 20 members of MBA leadership and staff to offer valuable programming on a full spectrum of challenges to be expected in the coming year. Elizabeth Derrico, associate director of the American Bar Association's Divisions for Bar Services, was on hand to shed light on motivating volunteers and working successfully with a volunteer board. Other individuals and expert panels provided practical information related to strategic and event planning; reaching out to the public and creating visibility; and fiduciary responsibility of board members.
The institute closed with roundtable discussions, during which attendees engaged in frank dialogue on issues in the legal community.
