Tips for Protecting Your Law Firm

More and more law firms are dependent upon technology solutions that are connected to the cloud. But how do we trust the cloud in the face of ever-evolving security threats, and how can we protect our own systems against virus attacks?

The key to preventing cybersecurity breaches is to think like a hacker. If you understand what motivates hackers and what they are looking for, you can put measures in place to safeguard your firm’s network and your clients’ data.

Topics will include:

• What motivates a hacker? What vulnerabilities is a hacker looking to exploit when attacking a network?
• Know the threats entering your network: What is the difference between a virus, malware and phishing attacks? 
• Knowledge is key: How can you safeguard your client data and network against an attack?
• Email security: We will analyze actual “phishing” emails and determine why they are false.
• Is your email for sale on the dark web? What is the dark web and how do hackers use it to sell your private information?
• Legal document transfers: How to safely share client information via the cloud.
• The dangers on your desk: Threats are not limited to the cloud. Devices found on our desks, such as unencrypted thumb drives, smart devices and laptops, are also vulnerable. We will review a typical work environment and point out its various vulnerabilities.
