Investigating internal complaints of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation and other forms of workplace misconduct is critically important. Employers should have protocols in place and the tools in hand to promptly, effectively and thoroughly investigate internal complaints to minimize potential exposure. Employees, on the other hand, should have the opportunity to evaluate internal investigations to ensure that the workplace misconduct at issue is thoroughly investigated and prompt remedial measures are taken.

During this informal brown bag lunch, expert panelists will discuss the ins and outs of workplace investigations from both the employer and employee perspectives.

From an employer’s perspective:

  • I received a complaint. Now what?
  • Best practices for workplace investigations
  • Documenting the investigation
  • Communicating the results
  • Confidentiality and other ethical issues

From an employee’s perspective:

  • Coming forward with a complaint
  • Preparing for the witness interview
  • Scrutinizing the investigation

This program will provide a forum for attorneys to discuss and explore strategies, practice tips and best practices for representing employees or employers in the midst of workplace investigations.
