The SECURE Act was enacted on Dec. 20, 2019, as part of the year-end spending bill. The legislation significantly changes the law with respect to IRAs and qualified retirement plans. One of the biggest changes is the elimination of the "stretch" IRA for most beneficiaries of inherited retirement plans, which has been replaced with a 10-year distribution rule. The act became effective Jan. 1, 2020.

Our expert panel will explore the important implications of this recent legislation, focusing particularly on understanding the new retirement plan distribution rules for inherited accounts and their impact on existing estate plans, as well as planning for retirement benefits going forward.
