With particular attention to the Massachusetts Commission Against
Discrimination (MCAD), our panel will explore the lasting impacts of the
pandemic on the practice of employment law in the commonwealth.
Deirdre Hosler, general counsel of the MCAD, and representatives of both the
management-side and employee-side bars will discuss the impact of COVID-19 on
MCAD claims, the pandemic's impact on alternative dispute resolution, the
commission’s input on religious accommodations in light of COVID-19 vaccine
mandates, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's recent updates to its
FAQs regarding religious accommodations, and advice to employers and
employees in this area. Panelists will also share impressions and updates
regarding how the MCAD’s revised procedural regulations have influenced and
changed the claims lifecycle, the commission, and other aspects of the agency’s
proceedings.
