The criminal justice system envisions the consequences of criminal charges to eventually come to an end. For noncitizens, however, those consequences can be life-changing and permanent.

Please join the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Section along with a panel of experienced professionals on the front line of this crucial issue as they offer practical advice from the perspectives of a prosecutor, defense attorney, immigration attorney and judge. Registrants of this program will:

  • Learn how to identify immigration pitfalls and advocate for resolutions that keep families together, both in pre- and post-conviction settings
  • Access a prosecutor's perspective on maintaining the integrity of convictions, crafting just dispositions that mitigate disproportionate immigration consequences and building trust in our state's diverse immigrant communities
  • Gain insight into the techniques and constraints with which immigration counsel must contend when representing noncitizens with criminal charges
  • Receive practical tips and insight from a leading Trial Court justice on effective advocacy for prosecutors and defense counsel on post-conviction matters and other issues unique to noncitizens involved in criminal courts as defendants, victims and witnesses

This webinar was hosted using Zoom.   Special pricing is available for practitioners on the CAFL, YAD and MH Division panels, and government attorneys, who may attend the program for $25. Call MBA Member Services to register at (617) 338-0530.
