Lawyers are favorite targets of fraudsters. Attorney identity theft, phony clients and email scams  can leave a wake of destruction, causing not only monetary losses but also ethical issues.

As new technologies advance, including social media and new payment channels, fraudsters adapt their schemes. But not all schemes are new. Check fraud remains “rampant,” according to the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, providing a low-cost, high-reward method for criminals to victimize law firms and other businesses.

Please join the Business Law Section as we explore the types of schemes commonly perpetrated on attorneys and the intersection of fraud and ethical obligations. We will discuss best practices to protect your business, outline how to respond to scams, and work through hypothetical scenarios to test your crime-prevention knowledge.

This program was hosted using Zoom.
