The Massachusetts Bar Association is excited to present its 22nd Annual In-House Counsel Conference. This year's highly anticipated event will focus on the evolving role of in-house counsel as both strategic and legal advisors.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote address will be delivered by Demeka Fields, Counsel-Global Sports Marketing for New Balance. In her current role, Fields supports the Global Sports Marketing and Team Sports departments, plus additional brands Warrior and Brine, and negotiates and drafts sponsorship and partnership deals with individual athletes and teams across various sports, including international football, basketball, track and field, and hockey. She has served as lead attorney during negotiations of deals with athletes, including tennis star Coco Gauff, baseball star Shohei Ohtani and New Balance’s first women’s basketball player WNBA rookie Cameron Brink, and teams, including European Football club AS Roma. Fields also helps lead various diversity initiatives at New Balance, including the New Balance-UMass Boston Sports Leadership Internship Program and a partnership with Divine 9 organizations that features shoes, apparel and other avenues for the company to give back. Before joining New Balance, Fields served as associate counsel for the Minnesota Vikings.

This year’s program will focus on topics of current importance to in-house counsel. Topics that will be addressed include:

  • Evolving AI Risks for Organizations
  • Protection of Attorney-Client Privilege by In-House Counsel
  • Employment Law Developments

This virtual conference will be held live via Zoom to allow for interactive discussions and audience questions. Please save the date on your calendar, and plan to participate in this important conference.

This conference is co-sponsored by The New England Corporate Counsel Association, Inc.

Registration is required by 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in order to participate in this program. An email from MassBar Education will be sent before the program.
