Berkshire County District Attorney-elect Andrea Harrington has selected MBA member Richard M. Dohoney to serve as her deputy district attorney and MBA member Jeanne M. Kempthorne to serve as her chief of appeals and legal counsel. Dohoney and Kempthorne were quoted about their new roles in stories published in iBerkshires and The Berkshire Eagle.
“Lease clause fails to shield landlord from 93A liability,” Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Dec. 10). MBA member Peter F. Granoff was quoted about an Appeals Court decision (The Exhibit Source, Inc. v. Wells Avenue Business Center, LLC), which found that a commercial landlord that unreasonably refused to return a security deposit was not protected against Chapter 93A action by a limitation of liability clause in the lease.
“Class action accuses out-of-state lawyers of ‘false’ ads,” Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Dec. 10). MBA member Rebecca G. Pontikes was quoted in a Hearsay article about a class action suit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston that accuses two out-of-state law firms of using false advertising to lure Uber drivers into “unconscionable” fee agreements.
