  • "‘Eggshell skull’ rule applies to drug addiction," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 23). MBA Development and Construction Law Practice Group member Bridget A. Lopez commented on a Superior Court judge's decision that defendants allegedly responsible for a car accident could be liable for the fatal drug overdose of a passenger who had to stop taking medication that controlled his narcotics addiction when he needed surgery for injuries sustained in the crash.

Dretler discussed a District Court appellate panel decision that an employee's retention bonus for remaining in good standing through a certain date does not constitute a wage under the Wage Act. 

  • "Personal injury attorneys eye Airbnb for recovery," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 23). MBA member Rebecca L. Thomas was quoted in an article about the rise in premises liability suits against Airbnb and other rental companies to compensate clients for injuries suffered as a result of allegedly hazardous conditions on host properties.

  • "Mayoral bid triggers transition in Boston firm’s leadership," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 23). Massachusetts Law Review Editorial Board member Marc A. Laredo discussed his campaign for mayor of Newton and the accompanying leadership transition underway at his Boston firm. The article also quoted Massachusetts Law Review Book Review Editor Matthew A. Kane, who will succeed Laredo as managing partner at the newly rebranded Laredo, Smith & Kane LLP. MBA member Payal Salsburg will join Kane on the firm's management team.

  • "‘A tradition worth keeping’: courtroom civility from the perspective of judges," Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (Sept. 23). MBA Tiered Community Mentoring Program Co-Chair and founder Hon. Angela M. Ordoñez and MBA members Hon. Jennifer Ginsburg and Hon. Christopher K.
