The path to judicial selection can be arduous. Candidates are vetted through both public and private bodies, including: the Judicial Nomination Commission, the Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Appointments and the Governor's Council. Read a step-by-step account of how the process works.

Joint Bar Committee Information

The Joint Bar Committee reviews, evaluates and reports on the qualifications of individuals under consideration for judicial appointments, including clerk-magistrates, to all Courts of the Commonwealth. Learn more about the JBC process.
