Join us on Tuesday, April 14, for the 36th Annual Labor & Employment Law Spring Conference at Suffolk University Law School. Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. Programming begins at 12:30 p.m.

We have an exciting afternoon planned, including an address by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey.

Conference Highlights Include:

  • Employment and Labor Law Survey
A panel of experts will provide a detailed review of developments in the fields of labor law and employment law over the past year, including:  NLRB expedited election rules, the NLRB General Counsel memo on Employer Rules dated March 18, 2015, social media, pregnancy discrimination, paid sick leave, and the Domestic Workers' Bill of Rights.
  • Underground Economy
Businesses operating outside of the law have an unfair competitive advantage in the market.  They undercut their competitors on the backs of their employees by avoiding taxes, ignoring wage laws and violating safety regulations.  Learn about policy initiatives being pursued in Massachusetts from an authority in the field.
  • Misclassification of Independent Contractors
Misclassification of employees as independent contractors is a problem with potentially serious consequences.  Our knowledgeable panel will breakdown different classification tests for different forums and discuss recent decisions regarding misclassification and potential damages for violations.
