Today the House of Representatives is voting to override some gubernatorial vetoes to the state budget.

Among those already voted on today was an override to restore to the budget the MBA backed compensation increase for assigned private counsel raising the hourly pay from $50 to $53 in the District and Juvenile Courts and for Children and Family Law Cases from $50 to $55. The MBA will continue to work to attain greater increases throughout the criminal justice system.

Additionally, the House restored the $4.1 million reduction in funding for the Trial Court.  These overrides now head to the Senate for a vote, who was in formal session at press time. The MBA strongly supported the courts on their override request.
