JYC 25th Anniversary

The Massachusetts Bar Association celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the Judicial Youth Corps program on Friday, Oct. 14, during a ceremony in the Great Hall of the John Adams Courthouse. Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Ralph D. Gants delivered opening remarks. MBA President Jeffrey Catalano accepted an award from the SJC, recognizing the MBA for its participation in the Worcester and Springfield JYC programs.

The SJC first established the Judicial Youth Corps summer program in Boston in 1991. The MBA has partnered with the SJC since 2007 to expand the program to Worcester. The Massachusetts Bar Foundation, the philanthropic partner of the MBA, also provides financial support to the JYC program.

Designed for urban high school students, the Judicial Youth Corps program teaches young people about the judicial branch of government and fundamental principles of law. The program consists of two educational components: an orientation to the court system and a courthouse internship session.
