The Office of Hearings Operations, Region I, Social Security Administration, is seeking attorneys to work in its Boston, Mass. Hearing Office. Attorney advisers perform a variety of activities related to the hearings and appeals process. The incumbent will prepare cases for hearing, perform post-hearing development, and formulate comprehensive decisions based on instructions from administrative law judges.

The Office of Hearings Operations, Region I, Social Security Administration, is seeking attorneys to work in its Lawrence-Springfield, Mass.; Hartford-New Haven, Conn.; Portland, Maine; and Providence, R.I. hearing offices. Attorney advisers perform a variety of activities related to the hearings and appeals process. The incumbent will prepare cases for hearing, perform post-hearing development, and formulate comprehensive decisions based on instructions from administrative law judges.

Applicants for both positions must have:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Excellent research and writing skills  
  • A law degree and be members in good standing of a state bar
  • One year of relevant legal experience required 
  • Proof of current state bar membership 
  • The ability to pass a security background check if selected
