Senior Staff Counsel – General Litigation At MWRA
The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is seeking a senior staff counsel – litigation to handle all litigation issues, provide advice and manage staff in the areas of responsibilities described below. The work includes supervising a legal assistant and support staff involved in the handling of all litigation issues; handle legal matters in construction, real estate, contracts, environmental, administrative, arbitration, and litigation. Research and determine the applicability of federal, state and local laws, regulations and case law.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree, a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. An understanding of substantive legal areas such as construction, real estate, contracts, and or environmental law (air, water and/or waste regulatory compliance, permitting and enforcement matters) acquired by at least three to six years of relevant experience. At the date of hire, the successful candidate must either be admitted to the bar to practice law in the state and federal courts in Massachusetts and in good standing in all jurisdictions where candidate has been admitted to practice.
