Frances S. Cohen has joined Dechert LLP as a partner in the financial services and securities litigation practice in Boston. Cohen has more than 20 years of experience, most recently at Hill & Barlow in Boston, representing clients in a broad range of commercial disputes.
The Commandant of the United States Coast Guard recently presented the United Sates Coast Guard Public Service Award to the Boston law firm of Looney & Grossman for its extraordinary commitment to pro bono legal services. Under a unique 2000 agreement dubbed "Operation LawHelp," Looney & Grossman provides legal assistance services to Coast Guard Members and dependents in need of specialized advice or with complex cases involving Mass. law.
In other news from the firm, Joseph H. Matzkin has been elected managing partner. Matzkin, who joined the firm in 1994, will continue to provide legal counsel in the areas of business transactions, restaurant and licensing, real estate conveyancing and development, and trust and estate planning. And Charles P. Kindregan has been elected to partner. Kindregan practices in the firm's Business Practice Group.
Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas in Springfield has elected Kathleen Leitao Bernardo, formerly counsel to the firm, as a partner. The firm also named Debra A. Quinn, Joshua P. Grey and Christine Y. Le Bel as associates.
Bernardo is a member of the firm's real estate and estate planning and administration departments. She represents clients in the areas of conveyancing and financing, zoning, variances and special permits, wills, trusts and probate administration.
Quinn is a member of the firm's family law department. Grey works in the firm's health law department and intellectual property practice group. And Le Bel is a member of the environmental law department.
Michael P. Krone has been named vice president and special counsel by First American Title Insurance Co. He will be in charge of the firm's broker advantage division, which works closely with residential real estate brokers throughout New England. Prior to joining First American, Krone was a partner at the Wellesley law firm of Kushner, Sanders & Krone.
