Fitzgerald greets MBA members

Issue October 2005

At the reception, in the Mahogany Room of the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel, are: the Hon. William H. Abrashkin of the Housing Court Western Division; Western Mass. MBA office manager Christine Baronas; MBA President Warren Fitzgerald; David Roulston, President of the Franklin County Bar Advocate Program and Andy Steinberg, Executive Director of Western Massachusetts Legal Services.
New MBA President Warren Fitzgerald hosted the Western Massachusetts reception welcoming the 2005-2006 bar association leaders at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel on Sept. 14.

Fitzgerald was joined by President-Elect Mark D. Mason, who practices in Springfield, and Vice President Valerie A. Yarashus in honoring members from Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire counties. Fitzgerald praised the members' commitment to excellence and encouraged them to impart that commitment to the attorneys who will follow them in the future.

Local bar association presidents in attendance included Michael McCarthy of the Berkshire Bar Association, Scott Cote of the Franklin Bar Association, Beth Crawford of the Hampshire Bar Association and Archer Battista of the Hampden Bar Association.

Fitzgerald said the event was an opportunity for him to meet and hear from MBA members outside of the Boston area.

"It's very important," Fitzgerald said. "MBA members come to discuss issues affecting either their practice or ideas about MBA practices statewide. They're very helpful and beneficial to me as president. The reception that I had at this event was truly wonderful. Members are happy to have MBA officials in person, and there are so many people actively involved in the organization that it's a pleasure to meet as many of them as I can."

Fitzgerald, who began his one-year term in September, was to be honored at the president's reception and welcome for the 2005-2006 bar leadership on Sept. 28 at the Boston Harbor Hotel.
