Douglas H. Wilkins was appointed as associate justice of the
Superior Court on Nov. 12 to fill the vacancy created by the
retirement of the Hon. Margaret R. Hinkle.
"Doug Wilkins brings to the bench an extraordinary background in
both public and private practice," Gov. Deval Patrick said. "I am
confident that he will be a fine addition to the Superior Court,
and I thank him for his willingness to serve the commonwealth in
this important role."
Wilkins has practiced law for 32 years, including more than 14
years in the Attorney General's Office, where he served as first
assistant attorney general, chief of the Government Bureau and
chief of the Trial Division. Prior to his appointment, Wilkins was
at Anderson & Kreiger LLP in Cambridge.
He has devoted much time to pro bono work, often representing
indigent parties in environmental and land use matters.
He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and
Harvard Law School.
