This meeting will focus on employability factors in disability adjudication.

Currently reliant on the 30+ year old "Dictionary of Occupational Titles," Social Security is transitioning to utilizing the Occupational Information System, a dynamic collection of occupation-related data from multiple sources. The transition towards new and ever-updating technology will have wide-ranging impact on any areas of law that utilize vocational data, including Workers' Compensation, LTD, PI, and state employee retirement positions.

Our guest speaker is Dr. Amy Vercillo, a vocational expert who works in a number of courts throughout the commonwealth, particularly at Social Security’s Office of Hearing Operations. She is a professor at UMass Boston, and a specialist in her field.

Dr. Vercillo will take us through proposed changes to how Social Security analyzes job information.
