Although the Senate continues its debate of the FY15 budget
today, they have taken action on an amendment for the Massachusetts
Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC), providing an additional $1
million, which increases the Senate appropriation to $14
million.
Last month the House passed a budget which included funding of $15
million for MLAC. Following the conclusion of the Senate budget
debate, a conference committee will be appointed to craft a
compromise budget. The Massachusetts Bar Association will continue
to strongly advocate for an increase in the MLAC budget, supporting
the House proposal.
