Join the Massachusetts Bar Association on Monday, Sept. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the MBA in Boston, for a program that will explore the tensions at the intersection of bankruptcy and estate planning. This seminar is targeted to bankruptcy lawyers and trusts and estate lawyers.
Our expert panelists will identify the challenges and pitfalls for lawyers drafting estate plans (including long-term-care planning related to Medicaid), and present strategies for debtors seeking to preserve those plans for the creditors seeking to disregard them.
Trusts are becoming increasingly common, and a large transfer of wealth is likely on the horizon as the baby boom generation ages. Unfortunately, the finances of those who will be the recipients of this wealth transfer may not be as strong. This is a can’t-miss program for trusts and estates and bankruptcy lawyers who will be on the front lines of this wealth transfer and who will have to grapple with the issues arising when trusts are exposed to the rigors of bankruptcy law.
