Deputy commissioner of probation —
legal counsel
Working within the Office of the Commissioner of Probation (OCP), the deputy commissioner — legal counsel provides specialized administrative and legal assistance to the commissioner of probation and the Massachusetts Probation Services Department, which is a department of the Trial Court. The legal counsel provides legal advice to the commissioner and the Probation Department on a variety of matters, including researching legal questions; drafting memoranda; assisting in the development and review of Probation-related legislation, regulations, standards, policies, procedures and protocols; providing counsel on human resources, labor and disciplinary matters; and analyzing an array of key legal and administrative questions that may come before the commissioner's office.
Requirements include a law degree from an accredited law school, membership in the Massachusetts bar, and a minimum of 10 years of professional legal experience, including significant litigation experience.

Positions with the Mass. POST Commission
The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission, a new state agency, is seeking to secure a large and diverse set of applicants for multiple open positions. Each position offers a chance to join a collegial team of professionals with different backgrounds and perspectives, to help build an agency with an important mission, and to serve the public interest.
Below are the current openings:
Associate general counsel
The associate general counsel will assist the general counsel in managing the legal operations of the commission; advising commission personnel regarding relevant legal and policy matters; contributing to the development of regulations, policies and protocols; ensuring the commission’s compliance with applicable laws; training personnel regarding legal requirements; and representing the commission before other bodies, and in working with other governmental bodies, stakeholders and members of the public.
Certification specialist
The POST Commission is looking for an individual to join the Division of Certification as a certification specialist. The certification specialist will work within the Division of Certification and assist the senior certification specialists, director of certification, and other employees of the division in all duties relative to the certification and recertification process of police officers in the commonwealth.
Product manager
The POST Commission is a new agency and has no legacy technology. Part of the initial focus will be to implement a software application that supports key business functions. The commission is interested in hiring a product manager with Salesforce experience who will be responsible for managing the technology implementation, coordinating between business, technical and vendor stakeholders, and ultimately for ensuring that the commission’s core application meets business needs through all phases of development and maintenance.
